BioAbout Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan
Dr. Temperance Brennan (aka Joy Keenan) is a character on the TV show Bones. She is a world-renowned forensic anthropologist and best-selling author. Dr. Brennan grew up in Ohio with her parents Matthew and Christine (aka Max and Ruth Keenan) and older brother Russ (aka Kyle Keenan) until her parents disappeared when she was 14 and she was put into foster care. Extremely bright, Temperance eventually attended Northwestern University and graduated with two doctorates. Currently, she works at the Jeffersonian Institute in Washington D.C. where she identifies skeletal remains.
Dr. Brennan also works for the FBI to solve cases where the victims' remains are decomposed (or disfigured) beyond recognition. Her partner, Special Agent Seeley Booth, is dissimilar to her in most things, but the two compliment each other in their work, making them an excellent team. Over the years, the two have become very close and Brennan considers Agent Booth to be a very good friend (although most onlookers seem to think they may be more). Most of her other friends are also her co-workers at the Jeffersonain, including Angela Montenegro (best friend and forensic artist), Jack Hodgins (bug and slime guy), and Dr. Zach Addy (assistant and former graduate student).
Temperance (also called Bones or Tempe) has been through a lot in her life and suffers the emotional consequences. Thus, she has focused all her energy on her career and education and has become cut-off socially from a lot of the world. Most popular culture (aside from certain music and some older movies) is foreign to her and she has trouble relating to average individuals. However, her friendship with Angela and working alongside Agent Booth has begun to help her open herself up to other worlds and ways of interacting with people.
Personality
Temperance Brennan is an interesting character. She has an extremely high IQ which she is not afraid to demonstrate. She is also very outspoken and does not adhere to social mores when interacting with others. This sometimes gives people the wrong impression of her - that she is snobby and cold. In fact, Temperance is an emotionally complex woman who has been shaped by the traumas in her life. These situations, along with the social awkwardness that often times accompanies genius, has made it difficult for her to become close with people. Once she does find those that she can bond with, however, she is an emotionally supportive friend who cares deeply for those around her.
Dr. Brennan is also very open about her sexuality. She has no problem talking to others about her sex life and sees the impulse to mate as an anthropological imperative not to be ashamed of. Often times she uses anthropological knowledge such as this to explain much of the human condition, including her and her partner's actions. This is not always welcome by those around her.
Lastly, Dr. Brennan has a silly, fun side that is not often seen. She has trouble letting loose and leaving her important work behind, but when she does she usually jumps in head first. Most times her funny side can best be seen while working alongside Agent Booth. The two have a verbal repartee that rivals even the most famous comic duos.

fbi_agent_booth) follows her up there and is staying on her couch until one night the two become intimate and Brennan runs away to a dig site in south America (What are we gonna do with that girl?). This is where I take over as her mun and Brennan returns to Canada to set things right with Booth who has since then settled in to the town as its sheriff (and is on a hiatus at the moment).
